Have we forgotten to look?
Today on the first day of my artist residency, I have spent much of my day walking, taking in all the wonderfulness of Paris and aiming to disconnect on some level. Having children back home seem to make it a little harder to disconnect, but I am trying. As I choose to soak in my day I realized how often on my day to day, I am running around phone in hand not looking past my phone, other than to briefly glance and continue ahead with my day. I want to be more present and for that to be something I practice while here and then continue back home.
I brought my camera with me, I wanted to take the moment to soak in some of the sights, and whenever I felt inspired to also take some photographs.
It felt wonderful to be looking to my surroundings and to connect with my day.
I am coming into my artist residency with determination to make art as I have been busy with other life demands over the last few weeks and I’m craving art making regularly.
I will be making plan of what I hope to accomplish while in France, but above all I plan to be gentle with myself to engage in conversations that nurture my soul, to sleep, to read, to enjoy strolls and just be!
I have seen a mixture of some people being consumed by their phones, and very many more just enjoying being.
So here is to me wishing you all to see more the little things of your day to day and enjoy Just Being!
